
Tirupati MP M. Gurumurthy has decided to shift some railway related works under Guntakal Railway Division to Tirupati, keeping in view the growing importance and importance of this famous pilgrimage centre.
In his zero hour speech in the Lok Sabha, he recalled the importance of Tirupati as a pilgrimage centre, academic hub and industrial destination and the thousands of travelers who throng here throughout the year.
With more than 1.5 lakh passengers recorded every day from Tirupati and the Tirupati-Renigunta segment, managing the crowd of passengers has become challenging for the officials monitoring from Guntakal, the divisional headquarters, and therefore suggested shifting some of the essential activities to Tirupati. He also pointed out that the revenue from Tirupati was much higher than that of several divisional headquarters.
