Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar on Sunday slammed the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for denying any wrongdoing in the Tirumala laddu issue despite the CBI revealing it in its report submitted to the state government under judicial supervision.
“This is not politics but a highly sensitive matter in which the sentiments of lakhs of devotees have been hurt,” he told the media in Tenali.
The CBI has made it clear that forgery has taken place. But the YSRCP launched a counterattack in the most inappropriate manner for the sake of political mileage, Mr. Manohar said.
Mr. Manohar expressed outrage over the adulteration of ghee and regretted that the YSRCP was supporting those involved in the crime. After the investigation reports came out (that not a single drop of quality ghee was found in the six million liters supplied), the YSRCP leaders had no moral right to talk about the matter.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan is committed to protecting Hindu dharma and averse to mocking other religions, he said, stressing the need for a thorough review of the TTD administration to ensure that such sacrilegious incidents do not recur.
