Tiruchi City Corporation is waiting to finance the state government to start working to create a recreational space on the shores of Kausery in the city.
The proposal for the development of the Riverfront park was launched in response to the requirements of the population to create recreational areas in the city. The project will be carried out in two phases to create a recreational zone and a reserved space for pilgrims to perform rituals on Ghats.
The civic body identified two sections along Kaustra at an estimated cost of 50 crore. Around 1.5 km of section between the National Motorway Bridge Tiruchi-Chennai and the railway line on the Odathurai road and a section of 750 meters between Amma Mandapam and Geethapuram in Srirangam.
After the feasibility study to check the state of the banks of the river, a detailed report on the project (DPR) was prepared and the Municipal Administration Department was submitted. The civic body was looking for funding from KFW Bank of Germany to implement the project. “The project financing will be assigned within a few weeks and then offers offers to identify a suitable supplier,” the company’s head official said.
According to the plan, the civic body develops a pedestrian track on a bank with vintage street lights and creates space for meditation. Children’s park, yoga hall and amphitheater, where cultural events can be held, are planned to estimate CRORE 24 GBP.
A nine -meter guard tower would be set up on the second bank, where people can view Rockfort and Rajagopuram in Srirangam. The granite benches will be installed at regular intervals to help residents participate in the morning walks to relax. The fence will be built around the river river for the safety of visitors.
Phase II will cover a section of 750 meters between AMMA Mandapam and Geethethapuram in Srirangam, where visitors perform rituals and dive. Swimming and toilets, space for pilgrims to perform rituals, are planned to estimate 26 crore.
