The inauguration of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Sanathnagar in Hyderabad is likely to take place on June 11, according to a senior health ministry official. The hospital was earlier expected to be inaugurated around Telangana Formation Day on June 2, but the program was tentatively postponed due to the prior commitments of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

An official said the inauguration is expected to be accompanied by a public meeting during which the chief minister can issue orders for the appointment and posting of doctors, nurses and other medical personnel to be deployed at the facility.

Telangana Director of Medical Education (DME) A. Narendar Kumar said that almost all the major works in the institution have been completed. He added that the facility is also equipped with international suites and superior patient rooms, which are among the last components awaiting completion before the hospital becomes fully operational.

TIMS Sanathnagar is being developed as a stand-alone post-graduate educational and healthcare institution without an attached undergraduate medical college. To support postgraduate medical education and training, the government is building a 100-room hostel for postgraduate students on campus.

The hospital has been operating in trial mode since May 1. According to Nodal Officer Mahboob Khan, the facility records an average daily intake of about 80 outpatients. The hospital also conducts approximately 10 to 15 X-rays and nearly 20 laboratory tests every day as part of its soft launch operations.

He said the trial run also allowed hospital administrators to identify and address operational issues before full operation. Special attention is paid to maintaining continuous air conditioning in critical diagnostic areas such as CT, MRI and ultrasound units.
