Four tiger chicks and her mother was found dead in suspicious circumstances in the main area of Mahadeshware Wildlife Sanctuary (MM Hills) on Thursday in the Chamarajaranagar district, Hindustan Times quoted a forest clerk.
“Five carcasses were found at 11 am during the Beat Staff routine patrol in Hanuru Taluk. It is suspicious that large cats could consume poisoned meat, perhaps placed on the spot to focus on them,” quoted HT Theera Lal.

“Prima facie seems to be the case of food poisoning. Tigers, aged 8 to 10 years old, maybe killed a cow and later returned to feed on a carcass that could be attached to the poison. The young were about two to three years old – one man and four women.
It is suspicious that Miscreants poisoned the cow, and after eating, the stashes and her chicks could die.
“Either the beef was poisoned before it was left in the forest, or the owner of the cattle after seeing the dead cow would extend the poison to his body, which the tiger and her young ate and died,” the officer quoted.
“Physical samples from dead tigers have been sent for forensic and toxicological analysis. Forest officials were deployed in this area to assess the situation and gather further evidence. It is expected that the investigation will explore possible motifs such as retaliation from local or potential attempts to poaching,” Lal added.
A high level investigation ordered:
Minister of Forest Eshwar Khandre ordered the main main conservator of forests (PCCF) to lead an incident at a high level and present a message within three days.

He supported the same theory of forest officials who claimed that someone could poison cattle and tigers and chicks could eat him, Khandre told reporters: “Our government took this matter very seriously and we will investigate it from all angles.
After looking at the incident, the forest department created a six -member special investigation team led by another PCCF BP Ravi.
In addition to Ravi and two other higher officials of the forest department, the team of the veterinary officer, the representative of the National Office for the Protection of Tigers (NTCA) and the renowned specialist in the wilderness of Sanjay Gubbi.
“This is a serious and tragic incident. If the poisoning is confirmed, we will initiate criminal proceedings against the responsible.
Eshwar Khandre warned any outages of patrol or any signs of duties would be taken seriously and would follow measures.
“If it is confirmed that Poison has been used, it is not just an output of wild animals – this is a criminal act. The culprits must be brought to justice,” Khandre said.
