Police have started drone surveillance of the ongoing Akkamamba Jathara event at Kalyanadurg in Anantapur district.
Police said they have made elaborate security arrangements for the ongoing week-long Sri Akkamamba Jatara in Kalyandurg, which is witnessing a large number of devotees.
Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh told the media that the police had adopted advanced surveillance measures, with drone surveillance emerging as a key element this year.
The SP said drones are being deployed for round-the-clock aerial surveillance of the temple premises and other congested junctions. Police officers have stepped up crowd control, regulating traffic movement and monitoring parking areas to ensure smooth running of the festivities, he said.
In addition, CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations and special police forces have been deployed across the city. Shakti teams also have a responsibility to ensure the safety of women devotees. Officials urged the public to cooperate and report suspicious activity immediately, the SP said.
Volunteers and emergency services teams were deployed to respond to any medical or safety needs.
