Five tigers – mother and her four chicks – who were found on Thursday in Charivaka’s Wildlife Sanctuary, in the middle of speculation that they were poisoned on Friday after the completion of the posthumous and other formalities.
The procedure was completed according to the standard protocols of the National Tigers (NTCA) Protection (NTCA) in the presence of higher officials, independent witnesses and experts. The samples were taken from the viscery and were sent to the forensic scientific laboratory (FSL) for analysis.
The Minister of Forests, Ecology and the Environment of Eshwar B. Khandre, who visited the Hoogyam series and instead of a tragedy, was informed by higher officials that the results of the FSL would soon be made available.
The incident launched various speculations, including Lakun in a patrol due to unpaid outsourced personnel.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Khandre said that the question of outsourcing forest staff Frontline, which will not receive its salaries in time, will also be probed.
If it is found that it has any impact on the death of five tigers, it will be taken against the officials concerned, he added. Any negligence of officials revealed during the investigation will cause the necessary disciplinary measures, the Minister said.
Mr. Khandre said that the death of the tigers was painful and deeply worrying, and those who are responsible would not be spared. Mr. Manjunath and other investigators were present.
T. Heeral, the main conservator of the forest, Chamarajanagar Circle, said it was 99% of the case of poisoning, but it must be confirmed by laboratory analysis and the results that he said will be accepted within one week.
