Tiger Woods’ first DUI charge
Woods, a former world No. 1 golfer, was charged with driving under the influence in 2017. South Florida police found him asleep at the wheel of his car with the engine running. His car was parked in the traffic lane and was damaged on the driver’s side.

In 2017, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and agreed to complete a first-time DUI offender program to avoid prison. He received a year of probation, a small fine and community service.
Career of Tiger Woods
Friday’s arrest comes as Tiger Woods tries to decide if he is fit enough to play in the Masters, which starts on April 9. He was also scheduled to be in Augusta, Georgia, on April 5 to unveil the golf course project with Masters chairman Fred Ridley.
Woods was days away from what was described as a “soft deadline” to decide whether to captain the US Ryder Cup for the 2027 matches in Ireland.
Woods, 50, was working his way back to golf after his seventh back surgery in September.
His last official tournament was the British Open in 2024. Woods tore his Achilles tendon in March 2025, which kept him out for the entire season, even before back surgery. He managed to play in his TGL indoor golf league on Tuesday night.
