Woods was lodged in the Martin County Jail and his bullet has now been released.Luckily, the 50-year-old golf icon escaped unhurt, but was detained after his vehicle hit a truck while attempting to overtake on a residential road on Jupiter Island and overturned before coming to a stop.Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods showed signs of “impairment,” although he passed a breath test. However, he was formally charged with driving under the influence after he refused to submit to a urinalysis test, Budenseik said.“When it came time for us to ask for a urine test, he refused, so he was charged with DUI, criminal damage to property and refusal to submit to a legal crash test,” Budensiek said. The sheriff said drug recognition experts who examined Woods at the scene believed the golfer was impaired by “some type of medication or drug.”However, under Florida law, Budensiek said, Woods had the right to refuse the urine test.“We will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired at the time of the crash,” Budensiek told reporters. While Woods and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured, Sheriff Budensiek said the incident “could have been a lot worse.”“This is a small two-lane road,” he said. “If someone was moving in the opposite direction, we wouldn’t be talking about there being no injuries.”Asked to estimate how fast Woods was going before the accident, Budensiek said: “The answer is I can’t. But I can tell you this – it’s a 30 mph speed limit.”“When I show you the pictures, they kind of speak for themselves… you can see that he was sliding a decent amount of space before he stopped.”
