All 11 accused arrested in connection with the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car were re-arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) on Wednesday (Oct 28, 2026), after a special court in Mumbai granted permission to the crime branch to proceed under the tough law.
The accused were produced before a special MCOCA court on Wednesday (October 28, 2026), a day after the Mumbai Crime Branch invoked the provisions of the law against them. During the hearing, the prosecution made a formal request for permission to remand the accused under the newly added provisions.
The court granted the request, after which the crime branch formally re-arrested all 11 accused under MCOCA. They will appear in court again on Thursday (October 29, 2026), when investigators are expected to ask for them to be taken into police custody.
The criminal department on Tuesday (October 27, 2026) after obtaining the consent of the competent authority pursuant to ยง 23 paragraph 1 letter a) of the Act applied Section 3(1)(ii), Section 3(2) and Section 3(4) of the MCOCA Act against all 11 accused.
The case, registered on October 19 under Crime Register No. 143/2026, originally involved sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
The case relates to the October 18 shooting in Mumbai’s Juhu area, where two assailants allegedly opened fire on Tiger Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football ground. Five rounds were fired during the attack. While the actor escaped largely unscathed, his driver and a bystander were injured.
Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack. Police have also named Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, as a wanted accused in the case.
Of the 11 accused arrested so far, three were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, while others were arrested from places like Delhi, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Investigators believe the attack was part of a larger organized crime conspiracy aimed at establishing financial and territorial dominance and spreading fear.
The invocation of MCOCA imposes stricter bail conditions and gives investigators an extended period to file charges, subject to statutory requirements and court approval.
Further investigation is underway.
