Three people, including a minor, allegedly involved in the shooting of actor Tiger Shroff, were detained from the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express in Rajasthan’s Kota city on Monday (October 18, 2026), police said.
DCP Raj Tilak Roshan told a press conference in Mumbai that one of the accused is 18 years old and the other two are 22 years old.
“Two accused are from Haryana and one from Bihar. Two of the three arrested attackers fired five to six rounds at Tiger Shroff’s car,” he said.
The DCP said the motorcycle they were using was found in Mumbai’s Andheri area.
“No weapon was found on the three suspects. The Mumbai police have taken the three suspects into custody and are bringing them to Mumbai from Rajasthan,” he said.
Mr. Roshan said that earlier there was no complaint of any threat to Tiger Shroff.
“The motive behind the shooting of the actor is not yet known. We will find it out after questioning the suspected assailants,” the DCP added.
He said the three suspects were nabbed from the train at Kota in Rajasthan within 15 hours of the incident in a swift inter-state operation by 20 special crime branch teams with active technical and operational support from Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan police forces.
“A special team of the Mumbai Crime Branch has taken into custody all three suspects from the Rajasthan Police and is bringing them to the metropolis for questioning,” the DCP added.
The shooting targeting the popular “Wars” star on a busy Sunday night was caught on video, with the clip showing gunshots fired at close range at his car. While the 36-year-old, who is also the son of veteran actor Jackie Shroff, escaped relatively unscathed, his driver and a bystander were injured.
A case was subsequently registered at the Juhu police station under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
“Following the attack, crime branch teams analyzed technical clues and found the motorcycle used in the crime near Andheri (West) railway station. Investigators traced details of the owner of the vehicle and traced the escape route of the suspects to Surat where they boarded the Pune-Jaipur train,” the DCP said.
The Mumbai Police shared real-time information with law enforcement agencies in other states and coordinated with their counterparts in Kota, who intercepted the train at Kota Junction and arrested all three suspects within minutes of their arrival at the station.
Further investigation has been handed over to the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the crime branch, the DCP said.
Roshan said authorities were verifying social media claims in which some individuals reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting.
“The firearms used in the crime have not yet been recovered and police are investigating all possible angles, including whether any handlers or outside conspirators were involved,” he added.
