The Disaster Management Department on Wednesday evening issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) for collection of DNA samples, dental records and burial of bodies in connection with the fireworks mishap in Thrissur district.
The guidelines outline detailed procedures to be followed in the case of unidentified bodies, bodies that have been identified but not claimed, disputed identifications and situations where only body parts have been recovered. The SoP is intended to be implemented by the District Disaster Management Authority (Thrissur), Police and Health Department and the concerned grama panchayats and municipalities.
