Thrissur collector Arjun Pandian wins ICDS award

Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian has been honored with the Best District Collector Award under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme for 2024-25 launched by the Women and Child Development Department. The award recognizes outstanding service delivery, innovative interventions and coordinated efforts of the district administration and the district wing of the department.

Thrissur and Wayanad districts jointly bagged the top honors in the collector category. The award recognizes sustained initiatives to strengthen anganwadi infrastructure, improve service delivery and ensure inclusive development for women and children.

The main area of ​​concern was the provision of land and basic facilities for anganwadis. The district administration has successfully secured land for around 18 anganwadis and completed the final stage of management for more than 50 centres. A special taluk-level cell was set up to deal with land-related issues, with monthly review meetings involving revenue authorities, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), local governments and other departments.

Several child and community initiatives have contributed to the district’s recognition.

In total, Thrissur district won 10 awards across categories including Best Collector, Best Anganwadi, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers. The state award for the best Anganwadi went to Galaxy Anganwadi (Centre No. 46), ICDS Kodakara.
