On Monday, the police arrested three youth bike by bike for chasing a car on the national highway Villupuram-Aulundurpet while driving on a triple motorcycle. The video of an incident recorded by a passenger car has become viral since then.
According to the police, there was an incident on Sunday evening, when Sanjeevi, 38, the inhabitants of Mangada, traveled in a car with his wife and children from Chennai towards Dindigul. The defendant identified as S. Rajesh, 24, K. Raja, 25, and J. Vinodh, 22, from Villupuram, chased the car and even tried to open their door.
The trio, in an effort to defend the car, was chased by over 5 km on the highway, intimidated passengers and damaged the rear windshield. When Mr. Sanjeevi slowed his vehicle in the village of Gedilam near Trunavalur to seek help, he accused them of their motorcycle.
He filed a complaint with the police patrol team who traced the accused and arrested them, except for the seizure of their motorcycle. The youth were under the influence of alcohol, the police said. The case was reserved against the accused under various parts of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. They were made before the local court and in custody.
