Three Vizag kayakers have been selected for inter-university competitions

Three athletes from the Aquatics Academy of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Visakhapatnam, have been selected to participate in the All India Inter-University Canoeing and Kayaking Championship in Chandigarh. The selected athletes are Bora Akhil Vignesh, Velamala Ravindra and Allada Harshith, all students of Andhra University.

District Sports Director June Gallyot said: this is the first time athletes from the district have been selected for the All India Inter-University in Aquatic Sports.

District Collector and District Sports Authority Chairman M. Abhishikth Kishore felicitated the sportsmen at a meeting held at the Collector’s office on Friday where the authority’s development activities and promotion of water sports in the district were discussed.

The Collector encouraged them to do well in the competitions and bring recognition to Visakhapatnam district and Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Canoeing and Kayaking Association President B. Balaram Naidu and water sports coaches V. Sohan and K. Girish were present in the meeting.
