Three people from Madurai were killed in an accident in Villupuram district

Three people were killed and two were injured after the car they were traveling in rammed into a divider at Pidagam on the Tiruchi-Chennai National Highway on Sunday.

Police identified the deceased as M. Sellapandi (55), the driver of the car, Selvam (63) and Kavitha (48), all from Palanganatham in Madurai district. Police said Selvam, his wife Selvi (55), son Praveen (30) and relative Kavitha (48) were traveling from Madurai to Chennai in a car. As they neared Pidagam, the car driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a divider.

While Sellapandi, Selvam and Kavitha died on the spot, Selvi and Praveen were admitted to Villupuram State Medical College and Hospital for treatment. A case has been registered.
