According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a fresh dose of coaches was sent on Tuesday in the key development for the highly anticipated yellow Namma Metro line.
Three coaches from the third train set were successfully sent from the Titagarh factory in Calcutta in West Bengal 29, April, while the remaining three will be sent to 2 May. Another set of three coaches is scheduled to be Bengaluru between May 10 and 15 May, and BMRCL released.
“When putting these new trains, BMRCL is to accelerate the introduction of services on a yellow line that will combine RV road to bommasandra. Once the corridor facilitates traffic jams and offer trouble -free travel opportunities to daily commuting, especially those traveling between key industrial and residential HUBS.”
Although 19.15 km the yellow line between RV Road and Bommasandra was structurally prepared for several months, its launch was delayed mainly due to the late arrival of trains without a driver. The first dose of six coaches, produced in China, was reached by the Hebagodi depot 14 February of this year.
In April Maleshwar Rao, CEO of BMRCL, said the yellow line Namma Metro will launch limited operations until June 2025, provided that all necessary authorities are ensured. “Operations are likely to start in full between August and September as soon as all sets of trains are accepted,” he said.
The yellow line is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams and increase connectivity to the main corporate nodes such as infosys and biocon. Thanks to 16 fully raised stations, it will serve as a vital corridor connecting the green line on the RV Road with the upcoming pink line at Jayadeva Hospital Station.
In 2019, China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) secured a contract for a contract for 1,578 GBP to supply 216 metro coaches to BMRCL. However, the company faced challenges in fulfilling its obligations, mainly because it failed to establish a production facility in India, as required by an agreement. This led BMRCL to make CRRC several announcements and even consider packaging the 372 GBP.
To solve the delay, CRRC later joined the Titagarh Rail rail systems based in Calcutal to produce and supply the remaining trainers. While the cooperation has alleviated some concerns, the project continues to face significant failures in its timeline.
