Three militants were arrested in Manipur

Three militants belonging to two banned groups have been arrested from two districts of Manipur for their alleged involvement in extortion activities, police said on Monday (July 13, 2026).

Another person with alleged ties to the insurgents was also caught, and weapons and ammunition were confiscated from his property.

An insurgent belonging to the banned group United People’s Party Kangleipak ​​(UPPK) was arrested in Porompat area of ​​Imphal East district on Saturday. He was identified as Salam Bijanda Singh (37).

On the same day, a Kangleipak ​​Communist Party fighter (Nongdrenkhomba) was arrested from Wangkhei Ayangpalli in Imphal East District. Another KCP cadre (Nongdrenkhomba) was also arrested on the same day from Khurai Nandeibam Leikai in Imphal East district. He was identified as Md Motim (31).

Meanwhile, security forces arrested a person with alleged militant links in Yairipok Pechi Road area under the jurisdiction of Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal District on Sunday (July 12, 2026).

A self-loading rifle with a magazine and 10 rounds of ammunition was also seized from the man, identified as Chagisongtanbou Nkhamnamai (46).
