Three jewelery store employees held for stealing 76 grams of gold ornaments

Three employees of a jewelery showroom in Jubilee Hills have been arrested for allegedly stealing gold ornaments weighing more than 76 grams from their workplace over a period of several months.

The accused, Bhukya Shiva Kumar, Vaddaram Prakash and Patri Govardhan, were arrested by the Jubilee Hills police on Friday, June 19, near Peddamma Gudi Metro Station in connection with a theft case registered on the complaint of the owner of SKT Jewelers on Road No. 36.

According to the police, the case came to light after an inventory check conducted in March revealed that gold ornaments weighing about 8.2 grams were missing from the repair section of the showroom. During the subsequent inspection in June, a sample of a gold chain from a customer and other gold items weighing around 30.14 grams were also found to be missing.

The complainant further informed the police that in July 2025, a gold chain weighing about 38 grams was lost in the showroom.

Police examined CCTV footage during the investigation and recorded witness statements which allegedly pointed to the involvement of showroom staff. Based on the evidence collected, the police tracked down and arrested the three accused.

Police said a gold ring weighing around 5.28 grams, suspected to be part of the stolen property, was recovered from the possession of Shiva Kumar.

Investigators claimed that the accused, while working at the showroom, stole the gold ornaments on various occasions and later disposed of the stolen property through unauthorized channels. The total amount of gold allegedly stolen in the case is about 76.385 grams.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that some of the stolen gold was sold through a hallmarking center and to gold dealers in the Warangal region. Police said they are working hard to recover the remaining stolen property and identify other people involved in the disposal of the gold.
