
Three fishermen were rescued and admitted to the hospital on Saturday after their fishing ship was rolled in the harsh sea off the coast of Vedaranyam in the Nagapattinam district.
Fishermen – Anjappan, Harish and Selvaras – the inhabitants of the village of Vanavanmahadevi embarked on a traditional fibrous ship on Friday.
When returning to the coast in the early Saturday hours, the ship was rolled on strong winds and harsh waves. After receiving information, colleagues in the area threw themselves into the place and safely saved three men.
All three were subsequently transported to the Government Faculty of Medicine in Orathur, Nagapattinam for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable.
