Three army staff died and six soldiers disappeared after the landslide hit the military camp in Chhaten, Sikki, the defense official said on Monday (June 2, 2025).
The landslide, which occurred on Sunday at 7 pm near Lacken Town in the Mangan district, was launched by severe rainfall in this area, he said.

“… a catastrophic landslide of the soil occurred after an intense and continuous collision in the region causing the death of three fighters identified as Havaldar Lakhwinder Singh, Lanka Naik Munish Thakur and Porter Abhishek Lakhada,” the official said.
The bodies of the staff were acquired, while four other soldiers were saved by minor injuries, the official said in his statement.
“Rescue teams work continuously under demanding conditions to find six missing staff,” he said.
The army expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and secured all the necessary support, the defense clerk added.
