A first-of-its-kind, three-day national horticulture conclave titled “Bihar Nursery and Green-Tech Conclave 2026” will be held between March 21 and 23 at Gyan Bhawan, Patna.
Organized by the Directorate of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture, the conclave will be a technology event on the theme ‘Parampara Se Pragati Tak’ (from tradition to progress). It aims to modernize horticulture and nursery farming in Bihar.
Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav on Thursday (March 19, 2026) at the ministry’s headquarters ‘Krishi Bhawan’ said, “This will be the first national level conclave where farmers engaged in traditional horticultural agriculture will be given information on using modern techniques to increase their income. It will prove beneficial for the farmers.”
New techniques and innovations used in agriculture and horticulture will be introduced at the conclave, he added.
The conclave will be instrumental in increasing the products and productivity of horticulture crops in Bihar besides adopting innovations used in horticulture across the country, Mr. Yadav said.
“Prominent nursery growers, agricultural universities, horticultural college scientists, farmers and traders related to horticulture will attend the event to share their experiences and research work in the field of horticulture development,” he added.
Mr Yadav, who was accompanied by Director Horticulture Abhishek Kumar, said the conclave would provide a common platform for farmers and nursery operators to learn about modern technologies, new plant varieties and network with market opportunities.
Stating that the Agriculture Plan has been implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which has led to increase in farmers’ income and prosperity of Bihar, the minister said the conclave is an important initiative to transform rural economy in Bihar.
“Focusing on climate-friendly horticultural crops and more profitable crops will not only increase farmers’ incomes but also establish the state as a new hub for agribusiness,” he said.
‘Udyan Pathshala’ will be organized to teach youth and farmers about modern techniques of horticulture, the minister said, adding that new entrepreneurs and start-ups in the state will get an opportunity to pitch their business ideas and also get an opportunity to get investment through the ‘Chanakya Horti-Pitch’ initiative.
The department will extend its full support to those whose ideas will be selected under the ‘Chanakya Horti-Pitch’ initiative to set up a business venture, he said.
The modern form of horticulture will create new employment opportunities at the local level for the youth and women in the state, he claimed.
The minister said that QR codes and interactive kiosks will be used during the conclave so that visitors can get all the information on their mobile phones. A “Green Innovation Zone” will be earmarked at the conclave for children to learn about the environment and new things related to agriculture, he added.
Mr. Yadav appealed to all farmers, nursery operators, horticulture, young entrepreneurs, start-ups, researchers and common citizens of the state to attend the conclave in large numbers.
