Three booked for alleged assault and abduction of woman in Kasaragod
The Vidyanagar police registered a case against three people, including two brothers, for allegedly assaulting a 23-year-old woman with a glass and forcibly taking her away in a car at Nayanmar Moola in Chengla village of Kasaragod.
The alleged incident took place at around 10.30pm on September 4 at a juice shop. Police said the complaint was delayed because the complainant was undergoing treatment.
According to the complaint, the accused arrived in a car and confronted her while she was drinking juice. The first accused, identified as Sabid, allegedly hit the woman on the head with a glass, while the second accused, Thahir, allegedly assaulted her. The two, together with a third unknown person, then allegedly forced her into the car and drove away.
According to the police, the attack was motivated by previous enmity. The woman had earlier filed a POCSO case against Sabid and the police suspect that the accused assaulted her as she refused to withdraw the case.
The police have registered a case against all the three accused under Sections 126(2), 127(2), 115(2), 118(1), 137(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
