A 14-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped, forced to drink alcohol and raped by an autorickshaw driver at an under-construction building in Devanahalli on Monday. Based on a tip-off, the police arrested the accused, including the woman, for aiding and abetting a crime.

According to the police, the victim was allegedly lured by her neighbour, identified as Renuka, on the night of July 17 on the pretext of visiting a temple. According to the Devanahalli police, the accused Naveen could not reach the girl directly, so they sought the help of Renuka to lure her. Naveen was accompanied by his friend Venkataramana.

On the way back, the trio took her in an autorickshaw to an undisclosed location where they allegedly forced her to drink alcohol.

According to the police, the accused then threatened her and warned that her father would realize that she was drunk. Taking advantage of her condition, they allegedly took her to an under-construction building where Naveen sexually assaulted her. The next morning, the accused allegedly dropped the girl near her residence and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.

The girl’s mother, worried about her daughter’s absence, asked her on her return. The victim disclosed the assault and accompanied her mother to the local police station. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and gang-rape provisions.

All three accused were traced and taken into custody. Further inquiries are ongoing and police said forensic and medical examinations have been requested as part of the investigation. The police also seized the autorickshaw used by the accused for the crime. Investigation revealed that Venkataramana was earlier booked in a POCSO case at Bagepalli police station.
