Three arrested for forcing entry into mall at BKC, Mumbai: Police

Three men allegedly used a suspected government ID card and forced their way past mall security guards at Jio World Plaza, BKC at gunpoint on Monday (September 7, 2026), a day before the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai (BKC). An FIR was lodged at the BKC police station under various sections of the BNS, including impersonating a public servant and illegal entry of armed weapons.

“This incident took place yesterday and there is no connection between this incident and the Prime Minister’s visit to Mumbai today. The crime branch is conducting further investigation. The weapon is licensed and two persons have been arrested in this regard,” DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan said.

The three accused are Rohan Premal Parekh (24), Dilip Rajaram Kunde and Prathamesh Ganesh Bagul. A case was registered against them for using fake identity card of Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India, impersonating a senior government official to coerce a private security guard of Jio World Plaza and trespassing into a mall with a firearm on 07/09/2026 at around 04:50 PM at Jio World Plaza, BKC, Bandra (East), Mumbai.

Preliminary information identifies the main accused youth as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh. Reports suggest that Rohan was in possession of an identity card claiming to belong to the office of the Prime Minister. During the security check, the officials suspected that the card was fake.

Earlier, a senior police official said a 24-year-old man, who claimed to be a PMO official, and his armed “bodyguard” were detained at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center in BKC hours before PM Modi’s event on Tuesday evening (September 8, 2026).

But the police later clarified that the incident took place on Monday (September 7) at Jio World Plaza in BKC and was not related to the Prime Minister’s event.

Based on a complaint by mall officials, the BKC police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to “impersonating a public servant” and “unlawful entry while armed with a deadly weapon”. The police then tracked down and arrested all three men.

The Mumbai Crime Branch is conducting a parallel investigation to verify the authenticity of the identity card and ascertain the exact motive of the accused, officials added.
