Three arrested for death of senior citizen in Tirupattur

Three people were arrested for the death of a senior citizen in Gangapuram village over a vehicle parking dispute on Wednesday.

Police said the arrested persons were identified as K. Sasikumar, 27, T. Bharath, 27, and S. Nirmala, 47. They were residents of Ambur town.

Initial investigation revealed that a neighbor, J. Sriram, 23, was waiting for his friend outside the house when suspect Sasikumar parked his two-wheeler near Sriram’s house. Sriram objected to this.

The pair argued while Sasikumar was joined by his relatives Bharath and Nirmala. The late R. Devaraj, 60, Sriram’s grandfather, tried to pacify the two groups. However, he was beaten up badly by a trio led by Sasikumar.

Family members rushed Devaraj to Government Taluk Hospital in Ambur town where doctors said he was brought dead. The case was registered by the Ambur city police. Three persons were arrested and lodged in Vellore Central Jail. A probe is underway.
