The Meerut police have arrested three AIMIM leaders for allegedly making provocative speeches to disrupt communal harmony, officials said on Wednesday (March 25, 2026).
All Majlis-e-Ittehadul (AIMIM) presidents of India’s western Uttar Pradesh Mahtab Chauhan, metropolitan president Imran Ansari and metropolitan secretary Raji Siddiqui were arrested following overnight raids, they said.
The action was taken after a video of an Eid Milan program organized without prior permission at a farm in Hajipur village on March 23 went viral.
In the video, AIMIM state president Shaukat Ali is reportedly seen making highly inappropriate remarks while targeting the political party and discussing the 2027 assembly elections.
“You have given 111 seats to those who are silent. Just give me 11 MLAs and I promise that if a Muslim is killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh, those responsible for the encounter will also face the encounter,” Mr Ali is alleged to have said in the clip.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Meerut) Antriksh Jain said the police took cognizance of the video and registered a case at the Lohiyanagar police station against six named persons, including Ali, and several unidentified others.
“The speeches were aimed at creating enmity between different religions and communities and affecting law and order,” Mr. Jain said, adding that efforts were on to arrest the other accused.
Strict action will be taken against anyone who engages in activities that violate social harmony and legal regulations, he said.
