Thousands of followers Dr. Babasaheba Ambedkara on Monday (April 14, 2025) in Mumbai, Mumbai, Mumbai, Mumbai, Mumbai in Mumbai, Mumbai, Mumbai in Mumbai. The day was observed with deep respect, cultural programs and honors.
In Nagpur, people began to come from different parts of India on Sunday evening, while Deekshabhoomi witnessed great crowds since early morning. This was in this historical place in 1956, when Ambedkar accepted Buddhism and launched a massive socio-religious movement. The followers led the queues to offer floral honors to Stupa and to preserve the ashes of amboary.

At the same time, Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai, where Ambedkar was cremated in 1956, also witnessed a massive track. It is located in Dadar and the memorial has become a central pilgrimage site for Ambedcarites who come in large numbers every year to pay tribute. The Mahashtra Government and the Civic Authorities in Mumbai have taken special measures, including medical camps, water facilities and operation management to handle the influx of visitors.
The long queues of followers waited patiently for hours before they gave up respect, while the air reflected the singing “Jai Bhim”. To handle the massive leg, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Bombai police deployed over 1,000 employees and built temporary facilities in place.
“Babasaheb dedicated his life to the fight for our rights,” said Rajesh Kumar Gautam (42), security originally from Varanasi, now staying in Santacrus. “Even the air we are breathing today is because of its struggle. Yet his dream remains unfulfilled, especially when we see the priorities of the current government, such as Mandir RAM, overshadows the basic industries such as education.”
Ayodhya Prasad Sharma, another guard from Uttar Pradesh, shared similar sentiment. “Ambedkar was the main light. He taught us the importance of education and showed us a way forward. His teachings are the reason why many of us are here today.”
For Parbudayal, a civilian department of Rajasthan, who now lives in Andheri, Ambedkar’s impact is closely linked to the legacy of Kanshi RAM, founder of Bahajan Samaj. “Babasaheb was helpful in reducing caste discrimination, but Kanshi Ram carried this link forward,” he said. “Without Kanshi Ram, much from Ambedka’s work might not have achieved locals.”
Ankit Ambedkar, Resident Khar originally from Uttar Pradesh, reflected the emotional resonance of the day. “For me, Babasaheb is similar to the deity. He taught us to stand high and appreciate education,” he said. “BSP’s efforts were crucial in supporting equality. Our home is decorated with photographs of social reformers such as Savitribai Phuule and Babasaheb Ambedkar, reminding us of their victims.”
On March 30, in front of Ambedkar Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Deekshabhoomi, where he gave up respect for Stuu and said that building a “developed and inclusive bharat” would be a real tribute to Ambedkara’s inheritance. Several politicians from across party lines paid tribute to Ambedkař on his anniversary of birth.
