In order to solve waste -related problems in the capital, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has launched steps to create a tertiary treatment plant at Muttathara Waste Water. On the contrary, plans are also to extend the existing drainage network to multiple departments. According to the mayor of Arya Rajendran, the project for expanding the drainage network was offered.
According to the project, the existing waste line will be expanded to Chakka, Pettah, Perunthanni and Kadakampily, with a total length of 11.7 km. In addition, another project was launched to extend the line at the Attakal, Ambalathara and Kalady. Currently, it covers a drainage network in the city less than 50 out of a total of 101 departments.
The tertiary treatment plant, which will be established together with the existing wastewater treatment plant in Muttathara, will be used for further cleaning of the treated water to be repeatedly usable for industrial purposes. About 15 million liters of water can be cleaned in a teaching plant. It is expected to further strengthen the supply of treated water to industrial and commercial equipment for the construction sector. A detailed report of the project was prepared.
At the beginning of this year, the civic body approved the funds for tertiary sewage and the projects of the line.
