
KK Shailaja, MLA, on Friday inaugurates the distribution of menstrual cups to students at the High School of St. Mary, Pattom, Pattom
Thiruvananthapuram Corporation launched a project that provides menstrual cups to girls across government schools in the city. Within the project, students are distributed to a total of 25,000 menstrual cups to ensure menstrual hygiene. Repeated menstrual cups are considered to be a healthy, sustainable and available alternative to sanitary inserts, which also leads to waste formation.
In the first phase, the project started in office, which took place on Friday at high secondary school at Pattom on Pattom with the distribution of menstrual cups for girls students. KK Shailaja, MLA, began distribution, and was chaired by the mayor of Arya Rajendran. The project was assumed as part of the annual corporation plan for 2025-26.
Along with the start of menstrual cup distribution, students are also held for students to support the use of sustainable alternatives.
