Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Andhra Pradesh State President Palla Srinivasa Rao said that September 9, the day the then Leader of Opposition and TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in 2023, will remain an unforgettable dark day in the history of the Telugu people.
“The arrest and harassment of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, a leader dedicated to public service, was politically motivated and the illegal cases registered against him were a reflection of the authoritarian behavior of the then YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said in a statement on Wednesday (September 9, 2026).

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on September 9, 2023 by Nandyal AP CID in the alleged multi-crore AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam and spent more than 50 days in Rajamahendravaram Central Jail.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that no conspiracy or adversity could dampen Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to public service and integrity.
“The spontaneous support extended to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu by the Telugu people of Andhra Pradesh and across the world during these difficult days was a testament to the unwavering faith and trust people repose in his leadership,” he said.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the truth has prevailed in the courts and the cases do not stand up to judicial scrutiny, which shows that justice and equity will prevail in the end.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s contribution to public service and his tireless efforts for the development of Andhra Pradesh will forever remain etched in the hearts of the Telugu people,” the TDP state chief said.
