Aviation India crash: Air India AI-171 Air Air Crash 12.
Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, bound to London Gatwick, lost altogether moments after take-off from international airport Sardar VallaBhbhai patel and crashed into residential districts of BJ Medical College in Meghani Nagar. The accident caused a massive explosion and strong black smoke to outline the sky, killed 241 people aboard and more than two dozen on the ground, including nine doctors.
“Pakistan had to attack a missile”
Among the survivors at BJ Medical College was Keshav Bhadana, the second year of MBBS student from Faridabad, who told NDTV torture moments when the walls of the Medical College hostel began to crumble.
“It was lunch. At about 1:30 pm I ate with my friends when the walls suddenly started and the ceiling began to fall. At first it looked like a dust storm. Then we thought it had to be an earthquake,” he said.
The initial reaction of Bhadana was formed by a tense geopolitical climate between India and Pakistan. “Then I thought Pakistan had to attack the rocket. I put my hands on my face for fear.”
“Suitcases falling from above”
“The moment I removed my hands from my face, I saw the suitcases falling from above. Then I thought it had to be an air crash,” Medico added.
The student lost four friends in the Air India disaster.
“At the time of the accident, 50 children ate on my floor. Six friends sat at my table. Four of them were killed in a crash (aerial India). One of them was a very close friend and I miss,” Bhadana NDTV said.
He also described his injuries and chaos that followed: “I saw a falling wall on me. When I fell back, I suffered injuries on my hands, legs and head. My legs were buried under a little.”
“The rollers of the mess began to explode”
The situation deteriorated when the gas rollers began to explode and sent the survivors to another panic. “We were on the first floor of a mess. Everyone shouted … There was black smoke everywhere, so nothing could be seen. Suddenly the rollers began to explode,” he said. “Many people have stopped showing signs of any movement. They may have died. We have come out with great difficulties.”
The ghosts of the past chase border states of India with Pakistan
This fear of a missile strike was not unfounded, given the recent escalation of tensions between the new Delhi and Islamabad. The crash occurred against the background of the Sindoor operation.
The terrorist attack from Pahalgam 2025, in which militants were killed by 26 civilians, including tourists, significantly escalated the tension between India and Pakistan.
In response to India, the Sindoor 7th Operation began on May and focused on nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan Kashmir to dismantle a militant infrastructure.
After these strikes, Pakistan attempted a rocket and drone attacks on the Indian Western border states, including Rajasthan, Pandjab and Gujarat, which led to a short but intensive military conflict before the ceasefire agreed.
The border states of Rajasthan, Pandjab and Gujarat were because of fear of missile attacks on high readiness.
