‘They would never block me’: David Warner, blocked by SRH, reopens old wounds

NEW DELHI: Australian cricketer David Warner has again hinted that his relationship with Sunrisers Hyderabad remains strained, revealing that the IPL franchise still seems to be blocking him on Instagram. Warner shared a screenshot of SRH’s profile on his Instagram story where the account was shown as “private”, which is what users usually see when they are blocked. The issue gained more attention after a fan asked SRH to unblock Warner in the comments section of one of his posts. In response to the fan, Warner wrote: “I would never be blocked.”

The latest exchange on social media brought back memories of Warner’s messy exit from the Hyderabad franchise despite being one of the most successful captains and batsmen in the team’s history.Warner joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and quickly became the face of the franchise. Under his leadership, SRH won their first IPL title in 2016, with Warner playing a huge role as both captain and opener. He also won the Orange Cap three times and remains one of the franchise’s top scorers with over 4,000 runs in 95 matches.Apart from his performances, Warner has become very popular among fans due to his Telugu reels and strong association with the ‘Orange Army’.The relationship between Warner and SRH started to fall apart during the 2021 IPL season after the team had bad problems. Warner was dropped as captain midway through the tournament and was later dropped from the playing eleven altogether.
