They will not allow illegal immigrants to exercise voting rights, says Bandi Sanjay
Union Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said it was out of the question for illegal migrants to exercise their voting rights.
He warned that if Congress continued to oppose the Special Intensive Review (SIR) of voter rolls, a National Register of Citizens (NRC) would also be introduced to identify and deport illegal immigrants.
He made these remarks at a public meeting in Nirmal on Tuesday.
Earlier, the BJP had organized a ‘Maha Padayatra’ in Nirmal as part of its ‘Save Democracy – Remove Anarchy’ campaign to counter the Congress’ ‘Vote Chori’ narrative.
BJP state president Sunil Bansal, state president N. Ramchander Rao, BJP Legislature Party (BJLP) leader and Nirmal MLA A. Maheshwar Reddy and MPs Godem Nagesh, Etala Rajender among others participated in the Maha Padayatra.
Mr. Sanjay lashed out at Congress leaders and accused them of running a disinformation campaign against SIR in New Delhi while leaving the pressing issues of farmers, unemployed youth and pensioners in Telangana unresolved.
Mr. Ramchander Rao alleged that the Congress was spreading false narratives against the Narendra Modi government, which he described as corruption-free and transparent, with the aim of destabilizing it.
He urged BJP cadres to counter what he called Congress’ disinformation campaign against SIR.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP will come to power in Telangana in the next assembly elections.
