Vijayapura district administration and gas company officials told people that there is no shortage of domestic pressure cylinders in the district.
Deputy Commissioner Anand K. said in Vijayapur on Thursday that there was no shortage of domestic pressure cylinders and there was no need to panic.
He urged people not to take empty cylinders to the offices of the gas agency and assured them that the cylinders would be delivered to their doorsteps.
Vijayapura does not have LPG cylinder filling stations and they are supplied from Belagavi and Solapur in Maharashtra.
However, the deputy commissioner promised that each family would get their quota of 15 domestic bottles a year.
However, deliveries of commercial bottles have been stopped. Dr. Anand directed officials to conduct checks to prevent hoarding of commercial or domestic pressure cylinders.
Bulk messages with similar content are sent to the public by gas company officials.
The development follows scenes where members of the general public are seen standing in long queues with gas cylinders in Vijayapura city. But all the agencies will get the required number of pressure cylinders within 24 hours of placing the order, the officer said.
