Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that there is no “Ahindu” (non-Hindu) in India as everyone is descended from the same ancestors and the basic culture of the country is Hinduism.
Mr. Bhagwat claimed that all Muslims and Christians are descended from the same ancestors. “They probably don’t know or are forced to forget,” he added while speaking on “100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons” in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Hindus are “responsible” for Bharat, he said, arguing that the RSS aimed to organize Hindu society for the glory of the nation, not for power.
“It just wants to serve, to organize society for the glory of Bharat Mata. Somehow in our country people found it very difficult to believe, but now they do,” the RSS chief said.
He said that when questions were raised as to why the RSS was targeting Hindu society, the answer was that Hindus were responsible for Bharat.
“It is not that the British gave us nationality; we are an ancient nation. All over the world, people agree that every nation has its basic culture. There are many populations, but there is a basic culture. What is the basic culture of Bharat? Whatever description we give, it leads us to the word Hindu,” he said.
