The YSR Congress party strongly condemned what it called the vindictive attitude of the coalition government, saying it was pushing several cases against political opponents to keep them behind bars for as long as possible.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Putaa party spokesperson Siva Sankar said the coalition government was reviving old cases and filing fake cases at various places against opposition leaders as part of political vendetta.
He said that though the central laboratories clearly stated that there was no animal fat in the ghee used for Tirupati laddu, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was trying to drag religious sentiments into politics. He alleged that cases were filed against Mr. Ambati Rambab, Mr. Jogi Ramesh and others because they exposed the alleged wrongdoing of the coalition government.
Referring to Mr. Ambati Rambaba, he said that an old case related to protests against medical colleges was reopened purely out of vindictiveness and that more than 36 cases were filed against him.
He alleged that after Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s claims on Tirupati laddu were exposed, TDP unleashed attacks on YSRCP leaders. According to him, the coalition government is filing lawsuits against victims and sending them to prison, which has become a pattern.
Perpetrators of violence were released while victims were imprisoned and transported from one place to another, he said, adding that this was a gross violation of human rights and fundamental rights.
