On Monday (April 7, 2025) in Kannura in Kannura, tension prevailed, because the march of the Youth Congress (YC) for a collector demanding the resignation of the main Minister Pinarayi Vijayan escalated into a collision with the police.
The protest was triggered by recent accusations concerning the daughter of the main Minister Veena Vijayan, who was appointed by the Office for Investigation of Serious Surface (SFIO) in the alleged illegal payment case.
The situation became chaotic shortly after the member of the Keral Pradesh Congress Committee to Mohanan started the march and chaired the chairman of the district Vijil Mohanan.
When some activists tried to cross the barricade, the police used the water cannon to distract the crowd, resulting in a short quarrel.
Demonstrators reportedly waved flags and lifted the slogans in front of a police vehicle carrying detained activists. The leader of the Congress for Youth Farzeen Majed, who previously gave a welcome speech, was among those who were taken into custody.
