A 21-year-old drowned in the Bhima while going for a swim in Padanur village of Bagalkot district on Sunday.
Anil Kumar Pujari went for an early morning swim. When he did not return, his family members alerted his friends, who went to look for him on the waterfront. They found his bike and clothes and informed the police.
Police and fire and rescue personnel with the help of local fishermen began efforts to recover the body.
