The aim of the Central Government is to democratize air travel and establish the cafes DDan Yatri at airports across the country is a step in this direction, said the Minister of Civil Aviation of the Union K. Rammohan Naida.
Reaching the media after the opening of the Udan Yatri café at Vijayawada 29, September, Monday, the Minister said after the start of the program DEPAN (UDE Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) in 2016 added more than 630 routes to ordinary people and available travel and traveling and traveling and issued trips and air trips and available routes.
“Since many people from lower income groups are traveling through the air, we have begun to focus on providing all the necessary services at airports,” Rammohan Naida said, recalling that the Yatri concept was considered negative feedback from people about exaggerated food prices.
The first café was set up at Kolkata Airport in December 2024. The café, where a cup of tea is awarded for 10 GBP and coffee 20 GBP, received a good answer from people. Such cafes were set up at Chennai airports, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Itanagar and Pune, he said.
“The government intends to open these cafes at airports across the country,” the Minister said, adding that the facility would take a long way for passengers.
Later, the Minister announced that the international flight to Singapore from Vijayawady would soon be launched. There will be flights connecting Vijayawad with cities like Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Pune.
Work on the new integrated terminal building (NITB) at Vijayawada Airport would be completed in three months and after the airport will have the ability to handle a larger number of passengers, Rammohan Naida said.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, who was present, appreciated the Minister of the Union for improving connectivity at Andhra Pradesh airports.
Previously, the Minister of the Union and another participated in the program of tree plantation in the area.
The program was attended by M. Lakshmi Kantha Reddy Airport and Airport Authority of India Board.
