After the incident, a group of people led by Gudalur Mla Pon Jeyeseelan organized a protest in collapalli and demanded that the forest department to find a permanent solution to negate the negative interactions of man-slon in the region. Demonstrators demanded that elephants located near human dwellings be persecuted deep into the reserve forests and that the separation should erase unkempt parts of the tea tree that overgrown with vegetation that limited visibility and allow animals to access the houses without being seen.
After a few hours, the protesting dispersed after the assurance that their requirements would be met.
