A Mumbai woman shared a heartwarming workplace moment on social media after her manager arranged for mangoes to be delivered to her home, just days after she mentioned missing them. The story has gained attention online, with many praising the thoughtful act as an example of compassionate leadership.
In an interview with X, Mudrika Kavdia described the incident and expressed her gratitude.
“I casually told my director in a meeting recently that we still don’t get good mangoes in our hometown and how much me and my dad miss him. He is sitting in London, originally from Mumbai and 2 days later someone sent two full boxes of mangoes to my home. God bless such leaders.”
She also shared a photo showing boxes of mangoes delivered to her house.
The post is getting a warm response online
The post quickly gained traction on the platform and has received more than 4,000 views so far. Many users responded warmly, saying that such gestures highlight the human side of leadership.
One user wrote: “God bless that director and send such directors in my life too.” Another commented: “I’m jealous, they’re really gorgeous. Looks like it’s straight out of the 90s.”
Users respond with humor and admiration
A third user said: “You are so lucky.” Another added: “I want a boss like that too.” One other user responded: “This is so cool.”
Several users said the story shows how small, thoughtful steps by leaders can leave a lasting impact on employees. Others joked that they might start mentioning their favorite foods during meetings in hopes of getting a similar surprise.
In a similar incident last year, a post describing how a manager checked on an employee’s welfare went viral on Reddit.
The employee shared screenshots of WhatsApp messages showing the manager regularly checking on the employee. In one message she wrote: “Hi. Just wanted to check if you’re ok. You looked really boring today. Everything ok?” In another, she responded to a doctor’s appointment without asking for details, saying, “Oh, okay… okay, okay. Everything okay?”
The manager also publicly acknowledged the team members’ contributions, even if they only worked a few hours late at night, according to the post. She shared homemade food with the team even during festivals.
An employee wrote: “My current manager is the nicest person I’ve ever met. She may not be the most technically skilled, but she’s a gem when it comes to taking care of people.”
They added: “All my previous jobs were toxic and now here is a manager who gives credit in front of everyone.”
