A 60-year-old woman and her critically ill son were forced to take shelter at a local graveyard (Vaikunta Dhamam) in Vemulawada on Thursday after the house owner allegedly asked them to vacate their rented accommodation, leaving them homeless.
According to sources, the woman, originally from Kistampet village in Chandurthi mandal, had been living in a rented house in the temple town with her 38-year-old son for the past few months. Her son is said to be suffering from a serious medical condition.
As his health deteriorated, a local doctor referred him to Sircilla Hospital on Thursday for better treatment.
Meanwhile, the landlord reportedly asked the mother and son to vacate the house. With nowhere to go, the woman reportedly took shelter in the Vaikunta Dhamam premises along with her ailing son on Friday morning.
On learning about their plight, Vemulawada Village Chairman Pulkam Raju visited the duo and arranged for them to be taken to Sircilla Government Hospital in 108 ambulance. The 38-year-old man was subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
