The woman accuses of fraud in the amount of CZK 1.5,000 in the promise of help from the CM’s aid fund

A 44-year-old woman has filed a complaint with the Vidhana Soudha police alleging that a man cheated her of ₹1.5 million after he was promised help in securing ₹9 million from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for her late mother’s medical expenses.

The complainant stated that her mother underwent gangrene surgery at a private hospital in Udupi in October 2025. However, she later died after the treatment proved unsuccessful.

According to the complaint, she approached an acquaintance named Manjunath to inquire about getting financial assistance from the CM’s Relief Fund. Manjunath was allegedly introduced to her by Venkata Reddy, who claimed to be working at Vidhana Soudha.

Reddy allegedly told her that he could arrange ₹9 crore from the CM Relief Fund out of the total ₹12 crore she had spent. He allegedly demanded ₹1.5 lakh as commission and promised that the relief would be cleared within 53 days.

When she trusted him, she reportedly paid ₹1.5 million.

However, despite collecting money and taking copies of medical bills and other documents, Reddy has reportedly failed to arrange the promised relief even after several months.

Based on her complaint, the Vidhana Soudha police initiated a case against Venkata Reddy on charges of cheating, intimidation and taking money by promising to facilitate the sanctioning of funds from the CM Relief Fund. Further investigation is underway.
