The West Bengal government has called a meeting with senior administrative officials on Saturday (Nov 22, 2025) to discuss preparations for next year’s assembly elections, sources said.
“Chief Secretary Manoj Pant is likely to preside over the meeting with the District Magistrates at the State Secretariat,” they said. “They will focus on polling infrastructure and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Those in remote constituencies will be connected through virtual mode,” one of the sources told PTI.
A workshop on EVMs is also to be held in Nové Město on Friday (November 21, 2025). The seminar will be attended by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti, who has been tasked with overseeing the state’s election activities, along with a delegation from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
24 district election officials from across the state will also participate in the workshop, the official said. “The discussion will focus on technological readiness, EVM testing procedures and various aspects related to security,” he said.
Meanwhile, official data said 7.64 lakh enumeration forms have been distributed in the state so far under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. West Bengal has a total of 7.66 million voters.
