The State Secretary of CPI K. Ramakrishn criticized the government for making high demands on the proposed Godavari-Banakacherla project, although people in Rayalaseem, especially people in the Curnool district, suffer due to lack of drinking water.
Instead of completing the waiting projects, the government planned the Godavari-Banakacherla project, Mr. Ramakrishna said when he addressed the media on Sunday.
He criticized the main Minister N. Chandrababa Naid for focusing only on large -scale projects and neglecting the supply of rural water. Funds were not assigned to iralaseem irrigation projects in the previous year’s budget and “neglect” continued this year, he said.
Previously, Mr. Naida focused on Amaravati and Polavaram, and now the focus has been moved to the Godavari – Banakaccharla project, which was estimated at 82,000 crore, he said. “While people from Rayalaseem are migrating due to lack of water, there is no answer to Mr. Naida,” he said.
“Even after 75 years of independence, villages continue to be deprived of drinking water. Neither Mr. Naida nor the Deputy Minister K. Pawan Kalyan pay attention to this issue. he asked.
Election districts such as Emmiganur, Alur, Mantralyam, Adoni and Patticonda faced extremely hard conditions where people were forced to drink mud water from farmer puddles. Among them was the worst affected aspari mandal in the Alurian constituency, Mr. Ramakrishna said.
