
Former General Indian Army Manoi Naravane criticized those who questioned the recent suspension of hostility between India and Pakistan and said that “war is neither a romantic nor Bollywood film”.

Naravane stressed at the action in Pune on Sunday that while he did not hesitate to go to war, if it was commanded, diplomacy should always be a preferred procedure, she reported nor.

He also emphasized the emotional and psychological tolls on civilians living near the border, especially children who tolerate night shelling and are forced to seek refuge.
“For those who have lost their loved ones, this trauma will be carried for generations. There is also something called PTSD (post -traumatic stress disorder). People who have seen scary scenes have woke up after 20 years and need psychiatric care,” he said.

Naravane spoke in the program organized by the Institute of India in India.
“War is not romantic. It is not your Bollywood film. It is a very serious trade. War or violence should be the last thing we should resort to, and therefore our prime minister said it was not an era of war.
“People still ask why we didn’t go to war with a full war. As a military man, if he was ordered, I would go to war, but that wouldn’t be my first choice,” said former head of the Indian army.
Naravane said that his first choice would be diplomacy, settling differences via dialogue and failure to achieve the phase of armed conflict.
“We are all the same parties in National Security. We should try to solve the differences not only between countries, but with each other, whether in families or between states, regions and communities. Violence is not an answer,” he said.
