The Waltair Division achieved its best performance in the first half of 2025-2026 and set new benchmarks in freight load, operating efficiency and equipment of personal citizens, said Lalit Director Bohra. All key indicators show a robust, two -digit growth that emphasizes strategic planning and division’s commitment to the perfection of services, he added.
On Saturday (October 4, 2025), which focused on the media conference in Visakhapatnam, he said that on 60 rakes, day, in the first six months of the current fiscal, the performance of the division was much higher than the previous best of 54, day, during the financial year 2023-24. The division also achieved its best performance in September by loading 62 rainfall within a month. The growth of transport from the Nagarnar Steel power plant in Odisha was 85% this year compared to the previous year. Similarly, the growth of freight transport from the steel plant Visakhapatnam (VSP) was 36% to the gangavaram port was 24%.
The division has seen its best achievements with significant improvements across the loading capacity, transport earnings and operational efficiency. The daily loading capacity increased by 10.78%, while earnings from the goods increased by 12.18%during the previous year.
Loading iron ore Kirandul-Bacheli reached 12.79 million tonnes and recorded an increase of 21.69%. He said Iron Ruda himself contributed an increase of 800 crore and recorded 20.68% jump in the previous year. The modernization of 15 stations in the Waltair division was occupied as part of the AMRIT Bharat initiative, including Duvvada and Simhamam, located in the limits of Visakhapatnam.
DRM said the Visakhapatnam railway station settled 1.6 Crore between April to September to September this year and gained the highest income of 426 crore passengers over the same period. He said that more than 1.5 passengers were using 121 special trains by September 2025. More than 3,300 coaches were added, manipulating with a top festival.
The division has strengthened safety with CCTV, supervision of drones and cameras worn by RPF staff, along with targeted initiatives such as Meri Saheli, Nanhe Pariste and Narcotics of Mission.
When answering questions, Mr. Bohra stated that from Visakhapatnam to Tirupati, Shalimar, Charlapalli and Bengalur, and 23 holiday specials from other destinations were also undergoing holiday specialties. He said that double work on the KR line is done in phases. There were six blocks on Kottavalasa – the Kirandul line, two blocks were critical for the tunnel work. The work was scheduled to complete over the years 2027-2028, he added.
