The veteran leader of the congress and the former lecturer of PP Datiochan (87) died in a private hospital in Ernakula on Thursday (September 11, 2025).
Doctors attributed his death to acute respiratory diseases and complications of advanced age.
Mr. Hightachan was born in Angamaly in 1939 to Jacobite Priest, Father Paulos Pynadath and Annamm.
Attorney from the profession, Mr. Hibonchan at a relatively young age entered the election policy. In 1968 he became chairman of the village Perumbavoor.
Pankachan’s passage reduces curtains to an important political career that lasted almost five decades.
From 1991 to 1995, when he was the main minister K. Karunakaran, he worked as the 14th speaker of the Legislative Assembly in Kerala.
He also worked as a Minister of Agriculture when AK Antony took over the reins as the main minister from K. Karunakaran in 1995.
Peacekeeping
The turbulent change of the guard in the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in 1995 threatened aside at that time. As a speaker, Mr. Hicachan met with sharply combat fractions in CLP halfway and found middle ground.
He mediated a slight degree that would withstand until the powerful Karunakaran group divided from Congress in 2005, created a new and now extinct side, the Democratic Congress Indira (Karunakaran) (DIC), adjacent to the left democratic front (LDF).
The unity of Congress in Kerala in 2005 suddenly threatened again. The Congress Committee for the All India (AIC) tapped Mr. Dadichan to lead the Congress Committee of Kerala Pradesh (KPCC) during the crafty period, in a nodded, unusual leader.
In 2006, UDF chose Mr. Dawortachan as his competitors to strengthen the coalition “settled”, the sun from the Karunakaran east. The post would be held until 2019.
Long care
Thanks to his career in the “Perumbavoor Politics” cup, euphemism for the complexity of the central Kerala policy, which complicate by shifting caste and municipal equations. In particular, he was the longest serving President of the Congress Committee Ernakulam (1977 to 1989).
Lord thank the legislative assembly of Keeral since 1982 to the Indian Communist Party (Marxist) (CPI (M)) leader Saju Paul ended the successful run of Mr. Datikaan in the state elections in 2001.
The daughters of Mr. Thanks, Rekha and Rena and Son, Varghes and their families survived. His deadly remains will be brought to his residence near the high school in Ashramam in Perumbavoor on Saturday at 11 am. The funeral services will begin at 1 pm, its deadly remains will be transported to the Syrian church of Jacobite in Akaraparamba near Nedumbassery and buried inside his family tomb in the church church cemetery.
