The United States on Monday (June 22) confirmed that Iran launched missile attacks focused on the Air Udeid Air Base in Qatar – Home to the leading headquarters of the American Central Command – what Tehran described as retaliation for recent American air strikes on nuclear facilities.
The Pentagon said no victims were reported in the attack, which means a sharp escalation of tension between the two nations.
Al Udeid, one of the most strategic military installations in the Middle East, is located around 9,000 American soldiers and plays a central role in regional operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
Iranian State Television described the strike as a “powerful and successful response” to what is called “American aggression” just a few days after American bombers secret three Iranian nuclear places.
Since then, regional tensions have appeared, with nearby Bahrain – host of the fifth fleet of the US Navy – temporarily closed its air space in response to strike, after similar preventive measures that Qatar had previously taken.
Qatar condemns the attack, calls it a violation

Iran prevents action, signals de escalatings
In a statement broadcast on Iranian State Television, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Choir (IRGC) described the operation as “a powerful and successful reaction of the armed forces of Iran to the aggression of America”. Iran said that the number of missiles corresponded to the number of bombs that the US dropped from the US, indicating that it can try to de-espákal after sending the message.
The Iranian Supreme Council for National Security also tried to reassure Qatar and said: “This action is not a threat to our friendly and fraternal neighbor Qatar.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian published just before the strike: “We did not include or look for it.
The second strike was reported in Iraq
Shortly after the Qatar attack, the Iraqi air base Ain Al-Assad, in which US troops resides. Iraqi security official, spoke anonymously with AP, confirmed the attack, but said it was not clear whether it was done by Iran or allied militia. No injuries or damage were immediately confirmed.
Israel intensifies Tehran’s strikes
Meanwhile, Israel has expanded its offensive deep to Iran, remarkable symbolic and strategic places, including:
- Prison Evin in Tehran, known for housing political prisoners

The Israeli army warned X (formerly Twitter): “In the coming days we will continue to attack the regime and military targets around Tehran.”
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant added: “The Iranian dictator will be punished with full force for attacking the Israeli home front.”
